What to Expect During Treatment
Avoid direct sun exposure prior to treatment. Treatment cannot be performed on tanned skin. The risk of complications is greatly reduced when avoiding sun prior to treatment. Discontinue use of Retin A, glycolics, or any other harsh topical products on the area to be treated 2 days prior.
The blood temperature of the treatment area is elevated to a level that causes coagulation. This does not cause damage to the epidermis or surrounding tissue, but destroys the function of the vein. Over time, the vein is absorbed by the body and disappears from sight.
Discontinue strong topical skincare for approximately 5 days prior. Keep the treated area clean and moist, and keep sunscreen on any exposed area.
While you can resume normal activities, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise. You should also avoid hot tubs for 24 hours after treatment. It is common to have mild to moderate pain, as well as redness, swelling, and bruising.
