What is Microdermabrasion Treatment?
Microdermabrasion treatment is an anti-aging treatment that improves fine lines and wrinkles. It is also used to improve signs of hyperpigmentation including photo aging, acne, scars, and stretch marks. It stimulates healthy epidermal tissue growth and improves the tone and elasticity of the skin. Microdermabrasion treatment can be used on most skin types, however because it is a mild procedure it is not suited for those with heavily damaged skin.
How Does it Work?
The device used emits crystals onto the surface of the skin. This causes a gentle abrasion of the skin to remove the outer layer. Sometimes, a light chemical peel is used in conjunction to enhance the effect of the treatment. During microdermabrasion treatment, the part of your body being treated will be cleansed, and a degreaser may be applied. Your eyes are covered and the microdermabrasion treatment begins, which consists of 2 passes to ensure every part of the treated area is covered. The procedure takes about 30 minutes, and afterwords a moisturizer and sunscreen is applied.
Microdermabrasion treatment is not recommended for those who have a history of excessive scarring, a recent herpes outbreak, warts, active acne, or active rosacea. Multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results. It varies depending on skin type and skin condition. This treatment works best with a good home care routine.
