Products in the Restylane® family instantly add volume to restore youthful contours and add fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Certain Restylane® products can also add fullness and definition to lips in patients providing natural-looking results with just one treatment. Restylane® like Juvederm® is comprised of hyaluronic acid gel. Restylane® is the first and only product approved for the lips. It is also used to treat hollows under the eyes.
How does Restylane® work?
Restylane® works immediately by adding volume to smooth away wrinkles. Restylane® is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid, eventually breaking down naturally. Restylane® should not be used by anyone with a known allergy to lidocaine.
Effects after treatment
After treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14-18 days in lips. Swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.
Duration of Restylane®
Restylane® may list six to twelve months. The duration of filler correction depends on the facial area treated, the injection technique, and the rate that the patient’s tissues break down after filler.
